Complex Burns Injury MCN

Complex burn injury in Scotland (CoBIS) is new managed clinical network which started in April 2007.

This network encompasses both adult and paediatric burn care. The main purpose of the network is to enhance the care of patients with burn injury in Scotland. In its first year the managed clinical network has undertaken a training needs analysis, produced an agreed definition of a complex burns injury and an agreed dataset to inform prospective data collection. Work is ongoing to develop standardised protocols and guidelines and the lead clinician has been involved in Disaster Planning Meetings and will contribute to a National Disaster Plan for Scotland. Additionally patient perspectives on their care have been sought through information gathering and interviews with patients.
