Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Cancer MCN
2007 was a busy year for the network and it has been able to progress a significant number of key projects including:
- Network-wide case ascertainment exercise undertaken
- Hepatocellular Cancer protocol completed and launched in 2007
- National Education meeting held on 12 September 2007
- New protocol sub-group established for Cholangiocarcinoma
- Prospective national audit data collection commenced July 2007
- Nurse-led work on disease specific patient information progressed and currently being published.
The Pancreatic and hepatobiliary dataset captures the patient pathway from referral, investigation and treatment. The first six months data will be analysied and reported at an education event in November 2009. The first analysis plans to report on a number of data items including:-
- Referral to first treatment
- First mode of treatment
- Treatment plan curative/palliative
- Tumour type numbers
- Pathology
- Outcomes
- Clinical trials
