Scottish Paediatric & Adolescent Infection & Immunology Network

The Scottish Paediatric & Adolescent Infection & Immunology Network (SPAIN) was established in April 2010 to stregthen and develop specialist services for children with immune defeciencies.

The network will support services in improving standards of clinical care of children through the establishment of continuous quality improvement systems and process. Priorities for the Network are to:

  • develop a database of PID & HIV patients in Scotland to facilitate clinical care, audit and service development.
  • develop and establish care pathways and guidelines to enable equity of access standardised level of care across Scotland
  • identify education and training requirements for both specialist and non specialist staff
  • engage with patients and families
