Inpatient Psychiatry for children (under the age of 12)

Severe psychiatric conditions are rare in children under 12, but there are those children who require intensive support and treatment in a specialist inpatient unit.  The inpatient unit for children under 12 is based within Yorkhill Hospital and is staffed by a highly skilled multi disciplinary team.  The team provide care for numerous and complex conditions such as autistic spectrum-type disorders, psychosis, severe obsessive compulsive disorders, significant learning disability and severe eating disorders.  In addition to the treatment provided to inpatients the team also provide support to family and carers.   The nine bedded unit provides care for between 15 to 20 patients per year.
