Pancreas and simultaneous pancreas / renal transplantation
Pancreas transplantation is often performed as a result of type 1 diabetes or for those patients who have severe and unstable diabetes. For these patients a transplant can potentially have life changing consequences, improving quality of life significantly.
The national service based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh continues to offer patients simultaneous kidney and pancreas transplant; pancreas following kidney transplant; or singular pancreas transplant.
